FOUR WAYS TO CONNECT WITH YOUR TODDLER

Let’s face it- many days motherhood is just another term for multitasking task master. There is too much to do with too little time. So how do you emotionally connect with your kids when you can’t even remember who needs a bath?

1.    Spend two minutes just watching him play. Then get down on your hands and knees and join in his game. If he is playing trains don’t go grab a book and start reading. Instead, grab a train and make the same “vrrrm” sounds that he is making. It will only take a few minutes and he will feel like you “get him.”

2.    Ask her if she wants to snuggle. A soft blanket and warm hug might be just what the two of you need.

3.    Describe to her what makes her unique. Is she curious? Daring? Persistent?

4.    Look at photos together and talk about a happy memory.

Remember there is no such thing as a perfect mom. Be compassionate towards yourself. Good enough parenting is all your child needs.
